Benefits of Vegetable Juice

A lot of people are curious about the health benefits of vegetable juice, maybe you’re one of them. If you are, then its good that you have taken an interest. Juicing has been very popular in the alternative health community for several decades, but is now gaining widespread popularity thanks to documentaries like Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, T.V. shows, and articles from respected physicians and nutritionists.

Lets take a look at why drinking fresh vegetable juice is such a great thing.

Health Reasons for Drinking Fresh Vegetable Juice

The main reason people will look to drink green drinks, which are what many people refer to vegetable juices as, is that they are super healthy. Fruit juices are also healthy, but on average it is the green juices that will have the most nutrients, antioxidants, and powerful pyhtochemicals.

Have you ever heard a doctor refer to a food as a super food? When they do they usually talk about the cancer fighting properties, or attributes that prevent the formation of arteriosclerosis, and other health benefits. There are some foods like garlic, onions, berries, and almonds that you probably won’t juice—thought a lot of people do add a clove of garlic to their green drinks. But a lot of the super foods—kale, spinach, parsley, celery—are things that make excellent juices.

A typical green fresh vegetable juice might look like the following:

  1. Granny Smith Apple
  2. A cup of Kale
  3. A Half Cup of Spinach
  4. A handful of Parsley
  5. 4 stalks of celery

Now, that’s a lot of vegetables. Imagine trying to eat all of that? It would be a lot to handle. That’s why so many people end up getting a juicer. They like it because it extracts all of the beneficial fresh vegetable juice and removes the fiber. The fiber is good, but it doesn’t have the important pyhtochemicals, anti-oxidants, and other minerals that you want. The fiber is bulk.

Fresh Vegetable Juice Tastes Better Than Store Brought

While the number one reason most people have for getting into juicing is health, there is another reason. Have you ever had fresh lemonade? Fresh orange juice? It tastes better than the stuff you buy at the supermarket, right? Even orange juice that is not from concentrate tastes better than the from concentrate stuff.

Well, fresh vegetable juice tastes better than stuff you can buy in a bottle. Suppose you like to drink carrot juice. You can buy that in the supermarket. It has very little health benefits when you compare it to fresh carrot juice, and it doesn’t taste as good.

If you have a good juicer, then you can make fresh carrot juice every day. It is very simply. You can even add a bit of fresh ginger if you like.

It is cheaper to make your own fresh vegetable juice than to buy it

Many people go to juice bars and buy their fresh juices. This is much better than buying something from the supermarket, but it can cost a lot of money. Some people also say that they don’t have the time to make fresh juice every day. If you are also short on time, then you could consider making fresh juices on the weekends.

Once you get the hang of it, it really doesn’t take more than a few minutes. Sometimes if you are making a simple green juice such as parsley, apples, carrots—it might only take two minutes including the cleaning time.

Remember, these time approximates are for auger juicers. If you are interested in juicing than I highly suggest you choose an Auger Juicer. They are superior for green leafy juices, but they are also really easy to clean and operate. Once you get accustomed to using them you won’t have any difficulty in making a juice in only a few minutes.
