Benefits of Kale Juice

This is going to provide a brief overview of some of the benefits of kale juice. Kale is one of the super foods. That is a term that nutritionists use to refer to foods that contain a tremendous amount of nutrients. These foods contain things that not only keep us healthy, but also are often times used to heal illnesses.

So, what’s so good about Kale Juice?

Kale is a super food. More precisely it is one of the best leafy greens you can eat. Kale has an enormous amount of Vitamin C, A and K. In addition to Calcium and other minerals, Kale has to super nutrients: Lutein and Zeaxanthin.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin are incredible super nutrients. They are especially important for eye health. People who have a history of eye problems in their family are those who should eat foods that contain Lutein and Zeaxanthin. Kale is one of the foods richest in these anti-oxidants.

The benefits of Kale Juice over eating kale is that you can consume much more. Kale has a lot of fiber. Fiber is certainly good for you, but it doest not have the super nutrients. You won’t be able to eat enough kale because you’ll get full from the fiber. It is good to eat kale, but you don’t want to rely solely on eating it to get the nutrients.

In order to get therapeutic amounts of Lutein and Zeaxanthin you want to juice kale. You don’t have to drink straight kale, you can add other things like apples and carrots and celery. Some people like to make straight green drinks without adding apples or carrots, while other people add an apple for flavor. You can also add a cucumber.

Kale Juice has more nutrients per ounce than almost any other green leafy vegetable. That is why I always add a handful of kale to my green drinks. I usually make one using an apple, a few stalks of celery.

So, lets look at an overview once more:

Lutein and Zeaxanthin

Super nutrients. These are incredibly important for eye health. If you want to preserve your vision, or if you are dealing with any sort of macular degeneration issue, then lots of people suggest taking supplemental lutein and Zeaxanthin.

Calcium

This is very important for people, especially vegans and vegetarians. Many people assume that the only place you can get calcium is in dairy products. This is not true. Leafy green vegetables actually have quiet a lot of calcium. The calcium from kale is actually more absorbable than dairy.

Is there a special juicer to use with Kale?

Yes. Kale requires a masticating auger design. The best juicer for leafy greens is the Omega. I have used this for several years. If you are used to the centrifugal juicers, then you should read my article on the difference between the two designs. Basically, the main thing to take in is that leafy greens like Kale, are difficult for regular juicers to process. If you use a regular juicer, what you end up with is a lot of unjuiced kale in the pulp container.

I suggest getting the Omega stainless steel auger juicer.

Here is a video of someone making a classic Kale and Carrot juice drink. He is using a plastic Omega. I like the stainless steel body.

You can read up on the stainless steel Omega on my guide to the best juicer for leafy greens.

It is a simple to use and easy to clean machine.

It will make juicing super easy and something you will want to do.
