3 Reasons A Juicer Is Better Than A Blender

The decision to buy either a juicer or a blender is a tough one. Some people have the money and the room to have both a blender and a juicer in their kitchen. But not everyone has this luxury.

For many people, the decision to buy either a juicer or a blender will come down to the price point as well as the space.

If you only have the budget to buy either a juicer or a blender, then it’s important to figure out which one is best for your personal use.

Don’t rely on what friends say—unless they are your personal trainer and nutritionist. What you need to get is going to be highly dependent on your needs.

Now, since this is a blog about juicing, it makes sense that I’m a proponent of juicing. I’m not someone who thinks that a smoothie is better than a juice.

Sure, I like smoothies and I’ll have them occasionally. But I am much more of a fan of juicing. Here’s a list of three reasons why I think you’d be better off buying a juicer than a blender.

I’ve written a pretty comprehensive overview of the difference between a blender and a juice before. Each has it’s pros and cons, but overall I am more of a fan of a juicer.

Juicing Provides More Nutrients

This is a simple fact. While smoothies might be more popular with bodybuilders (because they are a fast way to blend up protein powder and fruit into a muscle building shake) juices provide more nutrients.
So, if you’re looking to get a lot of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and enzymes, then there is no better way than to have a juice.

Juicing is a fast, simple, and easy to do. It allows you to get more nutrients into your body than if you were to either eat salads or to simply make smoothies.

Now, I think that there’s a time and a place for making smoothies—such as a meal replacement if you are not on a diet or after a workout if you don’t have time for a protein bar.

But in most cases, a juice will be the best option. You can even mix protein powder into a juice post workout if you want.

The fact remains that a juice is a good source of nutrients. Blending fruits and vegetables into a smoothie is great, but you’re stuck with a lot of fiber. Remember, fiber is good and blenders don’t destroy fiber. But you don’t need too much fiber.

However, you can benefit from a lot of vitamins and enzymes, which are in the juice not the fiber. So if you’re looking to get a lot of Vitamin D or Vitamin C or any antioxidant…juicing is better.

For instance, juicing whole lemons (including their skin which has the antifungal lemon oil) in a juicer is quick, easy, and will produce a fast digesting lemon tonic shot.

If you were to add three lemons to a smoothie you would end up with an undrinkable messy slop.

Juicers Are Less Noisy Than Blenders

This one’s pretty simple to explain. A juicer is much less noisy than a blender. That’s an important issue for many people.

The loud noise that a blender makes is something that can be disruptive and cause a lot of noise. This is problematic if you live in an apartment and want to make a smoothie early in the morning. You don’t want to wake your neighbors.

Also, some people are simply averse to loud noises. I know that I don’t like the huge noise that a blender makes. I will dela with it once in a while if I’m feeling like making a smoothie, but it’s not really something I’m looking for most of the time.

Juicers are going to be less noisy. This is especially true if you use a good juicer such as a auger style juicer. The best juicers are all auger style juicers: aka masticating juicers. They use a cold press style of juice extraction.

While there are some blenders good for juicing greens, it’s not common to find a blender that can do double work. It’s simpler to just get a quiet juicer.

You Can Make Nut Butter With A Juicer

Here’s a cool thing about juicers that you might be interested in: you can make nut butte with them.

It’s much different than a blender, which some people try and use for things like nut butter.

Masticating juicers such as the Omega are able to take almonds or walnuts and turn them into nut butter. It’s easy, and doesn’t require a lot of cleaning (the blender will).

Now, most people will be use to using a food processor to make things like nut butter or a frozen “nice cream” but it’s actually just as easy to use a juicer. In some instances, I would say it’s easier.

I am a big fan of making your own almond butter or really any nut butter at home. You avoid all of them harsh chemical processes that even the best “organic” nut  butters undergo.

With a good cold press juicer you can take the almonds, walnuts, pecans, or any other nut and simply churn out raw (or roasted) pure nut butter. You can add sea salt and keep it very simple.
