Vegan Restaurants In The Bronx

The Bronx actually has some really nice Vegan restaurant options. The reason is that The Bronx is home to quite a few ethnic populations including Indians, West Indians, and other groups that follow a religious or moral reasoning.

This means that you’re going to find not only lots of Vegan food, but also really affordable Vegan food.

Here’s my list of the best vegan restaurants in The Bronx. Now, it’s important to keep in mind that some of these places are more in line with a vegetarian menu and not necessarily a vegan restaurant. However, I suggest that you keep an open mind and remember that you can always ask your server to adjust the menu.

H.I.M. Ital Health Food Market (#1 Vegan Bronx Restaurant)

4374 White Plains Rd, The Bronx, NY 10466

This is a Caribbean health food spot located in the east Bronx. It’s got no online presence, but it does have some great Yelp reviews and a ton of amazing photos.

If you’re in the Bronx, and you’re a Vegan looking for food, then this is the spot to go to.

It’s a cool little spot and it’s interesting that it is Caribbean. Many folks would not have known that Caribbean foods can be vegan.

Some of the foods that are on the menu include:

  • Black Eyed Pea Balls
  • Kale and Okra
  • Red Beans and Rice
  • Green Juices
  • Vegan Carrot Cake

Sriprai Honey’s Thai Kitchen

3036 Westchester Ave, The Bronx, NY 10461

Thai food is a great vegetarian option in most cases. However, you have got some decent vegetarian options for most thai places.

The catch is that you have to be careful because most Thai recipes use fish sauce. There are some exceptions, however, such as spring rolls and many rice dishes.

It’s the noodle dishes that are the dangerous ones. They might appear to be vegetarian or even vegan, but in reality they probably contain fish sauce.

The great thing about Sriprai is that they offer a lot of recipes with Tofu. Tofu is something that is vegan by nature, and it’s also something that is popular in Thai cusine.

Vegan options include tofu and rice and lots of other things.

Vegan Grill

1201 Castle Hill Ave, The Bronx, NY 10462

This is a great little spot in an area that’s often considered a food desert. Honestly, if you were to drive by you would think that this is just another neighborhood spot. But what it is, is a great vegan alternative and vegetarian friendly place.

What they do is take classic New York deli style foods and switch it up by using Beyond Meat.
So, instead of classic chopped cheese made with beef, this sandwich is made with plant based protein.

If you’re looking for NYC style bodega food, then this is the spot to hit up.

If you’re unfamiliar with what chopped cheese is, then here’s a video. It’s a unique sandwich to NYC and its cool to see a vegan option (vegetarian if you get it with the cheese).

Vegan’s Delight Oasis

vegan Jamaican

3565C Boston Rd, The Bronx, NY 10469

This one might be a hit or a miss. There are some really questionable reviews online, most of which pertain to the customer service. So, I’d check up on that.

However, if you’re in this area of The Bronx, there are really no other vegan options. And this would be a legit Oasis in a food desert.

They feature mainly Caribbean style food as the reviews suggest. A lot of peas and rice and vegetables. Some vegan chickpea curry’s.

If you’re looking for vegan style Jamaican food, then this is a great spot to check out.

Sun Life Total Health

4060 White Plains Rd, The Bronx, NY 10466

This is another spot in the east bronx on White Plains road that serves a healthy plant based Caribbean menu.

This section of The Bronx is home to lots of Caribbean and West Indian people, and therefore you are going to find some really great West Indian food.

For instance, some of the reviews focus on rice and beans. But you’re also going to see some great things like Pumpkin Soup.

As a side note, I’m a big fan of pumpkin soup. It’s easy to make if you use an immersion blender.

Pizza Gusta (Yes, Vegan Pizza)

While many people don’t associate vegan food with pizza, there is one place in The Bronx that does make some great Vegan pizza.

You can find pizza made with Vegan Cheese.

This spot is located in Throgs Neck inside of FoodTown.

It’s also got some great vegan toppings for people who have been dying to have a pepperoni pizza but who haven’t been able to since turning vegan.

Check out the amazing slices and vegan options on the Pizza Gusta instagram:
