What Can You Do with an Omega Juicer?

As someone who lives the Omega Juicer, I am the first one to tell you that you can do just about anything with it. Of course, that’s an exaggeration. No juicer can bake you a cake or cook a vegan meatloaf.

But for what you can do with a high end juicer, there’s not much that an Omega juicer can’t handle.

In fact, it’s probably the best all around juicer on the market. With the exception of simple lemon juicing (as in squeezing a lemon for some lemon juice when you’re cooking) there is no juicer that I’d recommend.

Let’s go through all of the things that you can do with an Omega Juicer so you can decide if it’s a good pick for your needs.

You Can Juice Leafy Greens with an Omega

First off, let’s get to the big one: leafy greens. As you can tell from the name of this website, I’m all about leafy greens. They are probably one of the best things you can juice. They are rich in antioxidants that you can’t get in fruits or regular juices, and overall incredibly healthy.

The primary reason to use a Omega juicer is that it’s an incredibly well made cold pressed juicer. This means that it can juice spinach, kale, wheat grass, and all other forms of leafy greens. You can even juice things like parsley.

It’s so important to know that you cannot juice leafy greens without an auger, cold pressed style juicer. Only juicers like the Omega are able to juice leafy greens.

While you might see some fast food style juice shops use the fast style juicers, these are really bad for making green drinks. They produce too much heat, waste too much of the vegetable, and simply make less “fresh tasting” juices. Cold pressed juices such as Omega are really the only one to get.

You Can Also Juice Most Fruits

Of course, you don’t have to get an omega juicer just to make leafy greens. In fact, the majority of the juice most people might make could be fruits such as apples, pineapple, and lemons, with just a bit of leafy greens added to the batch. It would still be useful to have an omega juicer as it’s something that would process it easier.

For example, I happen to love making a lemon and pineapple and dark leafy green juice. That’s great because it gives you all of the benefits of a dark leafy green juice while also cutting the flavor with the lemon and pineapple.

The Omega juicer is able to juice the whole lemon, including the lemon rind. This juicer has a slow press design, so you can extract juice from lemon skins –which hold essential oils that flavor green drinks much more than simply hand juicing a lemon with a lemon juicer.

The only fruits you can’t juice in an Omega juicer are things like bananas and berries, but you can’t juice these lemons in any juicer. You can make “nice creams” with bananas and berries in the Omega Juicer, but they simply aren’t things you can juice.

 You Can Make Nut Butter

One of the things you can make in an Omega juicer that you can’t make in most other juicers is nut butter.

The Omega Juicer comes with an attachment that allows you to take nuts and process them into a nut butter. It’s rather easy.

You just swap out the regular juicing cone with a nut butter cone (the same one used to make frozen fruit purees) and you run the nuts through the machine.

When making nut butter, you can use either a good blender, a food processor, or an auger juicer like an Omega.

Each method has it’s own benefits and drawbacks. The food processor and blender are fast, but they require you to make a lot of nut butter. The Omega juicer is a bit slower (because it’s a slow pressed juicer) but it’s also much quieter—if you’re someone who hates the loud noise of ice in a blender, then wait until you hear the sound of nuts in a food processor!

You can roast almonds on a tray in the oven, or take walnuts and run them through the juicer.

A fun thing to do, if you’re someone who likes sweets, is to add a bit of dark chocolate to the juicer when mixing the nuts. This is an easy way to get an almond-chocolate butter, for instance, or an organic peanut butter with chocolate.

When you take control of your life and make things from scratch, yourself, you know what goes into your food. So, instead of buying a peanut butter with extra sugars, synthetic chemicals, and processed junk chocolate, you can make exactly what you want and should be eating.

You Can Juice Oranges in an Omega Juicer

A lot of people think that you can’t juice oranges in an omega juicer, but that’s not true. The mis-information comes from the popular use of orange juice citrus juicers.

Most people who advertise citrus juices tell you that you’re going to get a super thick juice if you use a regular juicer. And for the most part, that’s true. But if you use a cold press juicer like an Omega, and you also use a screen, you can get a pretty delicious orange juice with moderate pulp.

I would suggest, that if you want to make fresh orange juice, and you want it to taste close to a traditional orange juice, then you should peel the orange.

If you’re looking for an orange flavor to your juice, then you can add the orange peel. The peel of the orange contains a lot of nutrients, and also the orange essential oil.

So, if you’re making a green drink and would like to add an orange flavor, then remember to keep the orange peel on.

 Can You Juice Lemons?

You can certainly juice lemons in an Omega juicer. In fact, unless you’re looking to make a very light lemon spritz in your food, I like using an Omega juicer (or whichever cold pressed juicer you choose to use) as my primary lemon juicer.

The reason that I like to use the Omega juicer is that it lets me juice the lemon rind. That’s the part of the lemon that not only has a ton of healthy nutrients, but also the most flavor.

Even if you’re making a lemonade, then you might want to juice the entire lemon including the rind. The lemon rind is where you have all of the super strong lemon flavor. And you can’t juice a lemon rind with a regular lemon juicer, even if you get one of the better ones on the market. The typical lemon juicer is only designed to juice the inside of the lemon, not the rind and outside.

Carrots and Other Hard Vegetables?

Carrots and other hard vegetables such as beets are best juiced in auger cold press juicers like the Omega.

I’ve tried juicing carrots and beets and celery in old fashioned juicers, and the results were less than stellar. The juice was fine, the problem with the juicing process was that the pulp was so wet.

On the other hand, if you wanted to make a carrot and beet juice, or a celery juice and green juice with something like spinach or kale, then you’re going to really want an Omega juicer.

I have a whole article devoted to covering carrot and beetroot juicers if you would like to read.

Can You Juice Frozen Fruit in an Omega Juicer?

Yes, but you can’t juice the fruit. You can certainly run frozen fruit though an omega juicer but you are only going to want to do it to make a fake “ice cream” or some other sort of frozen fruit puree.

I like to take things like frozen berries or frozen cherries and then put them through the juicer and make them into a fruit dessert.

You can also take frozen fruit and run these through an Omega juicer and it will turn into a smoothie like consistency, but more like a sorbet. They are perfect for a sugar free dessert!
